Peace Education and Training
Many communities in Zambia experience tensions that, if left unaddressed, can escalate into violence or division. Our program helps participants understand the root causes of conflicts.
Peace Education and Training
Empowering Communities with Knowledge for Lasting Peace
At the Peace and Conflict Transformation Initiative (PCTI), our Peace Education and Training program is a cornerstone of our mission to build sustainable peace in Zambia and beyond. We believe that peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of understanding, cooperation, and justice.
What We Do
Providing Skills for Conflict Transformation
Through workshops, seminars, and community outreach, we provide individuals — especially youth, women, and community leaders — with the practical skills needed to manage and transform conflict in constructive ways. Our training covers essential areas such as:
- Conflict resolution techniques
- Mediation and dialogue facilitation
- Active listening and communication
- Emotional intelligence and empathy
- Community cohesion and reconciliation methods
Why Peace Education Matters
Building Resilient, Peaceful Societies
Many communities in Zambia experience tensions that, if left unaddressed, can escalate into violence or division. Our program helps participants understand the root causes of conflict and equips them with tools to prevent, de-escalate, or transform such situations. By strengthening the peacebuilding capacity at the grassroots level, we foster more resilient, inclusive, and peaceful societies.
Our Approach
Participatory, Culturally Relevant, and Transformational
PCTI’s approach is deeply rooted in local contexts. We work closely with community stakeholders, traditional leaders, and educators to ensure that the training is culturally relevant and addresses real-world challenges. Our sessions are interactive, participatory, and grounded in lived experiences.
