Who We Are
The Peace and Conflict Transformation Initiative (PCTI) is a Zambian non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting peaceful conflict resolution and advancing human rights.
We believe that conflict, when addressed constructively, can become a catalyst for sustainable harmony and resilient communities.
At PCTI, we work directly with communities, institutions, and partners to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary to transform conflict into opportunities for growth, unity, and justice.
Our Vision
To be a catalyst for lasting peace, transforming conflicts into opportunities for sustainable harmony.
Our Mission
Empowering communities with the tools for peaceful conflict resolution, fostering collaboration, and advancing knowledge to build a resilient and just society.
Our Core Objectives
- Strengthening Community Conflict Resolution:
We empower communities to resolve violent conflicts peacefully by building and enhancing local conflict resolution mechanisms. - Media Capacity Building:
We periodically train media practitioners in conflict-sensitive journalism, ensuring that reporting supports peace-building efforts rather than inflaming tensions. - Collaboration for Peace:
We partner with think tanks, academic institutions, research centers, and monitoring bodies to promote peaceful coexistence and advance scholarly work on peace and conflict. - Policy, Research, and Development:
We serve as a policy, research, and development hub focused on innovative solutions for peaceful conflict resolution in Zambia. - Public Lectures on Peace:
We organize periodic public lectures under the banner of the “Dag Hammarskjöld Lectures” in honor of the former United Nations Secretary-General who died on Zambian soil in pursuit of peace. - Advancing Peace and Human Rights:
We engage in other initiatives as deemed necessary by our Board to further the cause of peace, human rights, and social justice in Zambia.
